Born in 1968 in Concord, New Hampshire
Learned many lifestyle ideas from my grandmother, who liked to garden, paint and cook simple, comfort foods.
Graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a minor in Humanities and a major in English.
In the 80's I was enamored with the coffee table books on lifestyle produced by Clarkson Potter Publishing. Luminaries like Mary Emmerling, Emelie Tolley and photographer Chris Mead inspired me in the direction of becoming a stylist... I wrote letters and in the early 90's was lucky to meet Emelie, who introduced me to Mary, Trish Foley and others.
1993 Mary Emmerling asked me to contribute to MARY EMMERLING'S COUNTRY a beautiful new magazine filled with evolving country style... I was honored and worked on that magazine for its entirety.
I later worked on all types of shelter and woman's service magazines, including: McCall's, Woman's Day, Family Circle, etc. learning more and more about styling and how to produce stories.
In 1995 Clarkson Potter approached me about writing a book about nature... in 1997 GIFTS FROM NATURE debuted at bookstores. It lead to many great things in my career including being asked to join COUNTRY HOME MAGAZINE as a contributing editor. I am still hard at work in this role.
I've had lots of opportunities since then. Catalog production for companies like POTTERY BARN, LL Bean and Company C, design work for WATERFORD/WEDGWOOD, television experience on shows produced for THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL and HGTV.
The next few months hold many new projects, including my new magazine, HOLIDAY WITH MATTHEW MEAD, a new book with Chronicle books, EASTER EGGS 40 fabulous projects for the whole family, and Christmas ornaments designed for THE AMERICAN FOLK ART MUSEUM and on sale at Macy's and www.macys.com.
I am always looking to expand my opportunities ... so if you are looking for an engaging lecture or lifestyle, fresh designs for products, or a production company to rethink and expand the look of your product, please feel free to contact me at Mgmeadinc@aol.com
