This month our Christmas ornaments debut at Macy's. Inspired by the American Folk Art Museum in Manhattan, they are truly heirloom quality and come in many coordinating designs. Check out COUNTRY HOME MAGAZINE December issue for all the styles and designs and the many things to do with them. The elephant featured here has eleven counterpart animals, all scented in cinnamon and painted in great folk art designs. Collect all 125 pieces for a beautiful and inspired holiday tree.

Every year there is something in the flea market from holidays past that really draws my attention. This year, I collected Santa cake molds from the 40's and 50's and made up this charming Santa cake from the past. I love the simplicity of this guy and the way he brings to mind nostalgic Christmas of long ago. Send me an e-mail, and I'll tell you which tips we used for this velvety frosted look.

One of my favorite items to collect are Leeds ware platters with a green ruffled edge. I have three pieces (shown at left), but I am always on the hunt for more. They are made from a very fragile composite called "soft paste," and it is rare to find these platters in perfect condition or at a price that is affordable. I love to use them at holiday time because they have such a festive look (I used them as props in the "Soup's on" story under the TASTE section in Holiday.)

For more information on Leeds Ware, simply Google “Leeds Ware,” and read about the history and style of this well-loved dinnerware.
